Big Turnaround
It has been quite a while since my last blog; so long in fact that we’ve seen another manager come and go.
While a number of Rovers fans cried out for an experienced manager to come in and steady the ship, instead they got it in their heads to appoint someone with an affinity to the club in an attempt to get the fans back onside.
Unfortunately it just didn’t work out for Henning. I’m sure that I, along with the vast majority of fans won’t let that poor spell of one win in ten games tarnish the Norwegian’s legacy at Ewood. Let’s just remember the good times.
Now we’re into the Appleton era. The transfer window turned out to be a huge let down, with none of the touted deals coming into fruition until after the opening of the Football League’s loan window. However, things are now in motion and DJ Campbell will provided experience of his past promotions to the squad. With regards to Lee Williamson, I really hope he doesn’t turn out to be “the new Keith Andrews”. By which I mean looking at his career so far, he seems to have a few similarities in common with Rovers former targeted figure of frustration. A player with some similarities to Garry Flitcroft, I hope he is given a fair crack of the whip by the Ewood faithful. Appleton says he would like to add upto four more new faces.
The most surprising thing so far for me has been the immediate impact Appleton has had, solidifying a defence that has, at times, looked totally inept at times. Is Bradley Orr’s return merely a coincidence? Will Adam Henley be forced to sit on the sidelines following his imminent return from injury? I guess we will just have to wait and see for an answer to that one.
Could it be that we may just have an evenly balanced squad going into those final stages of the season – one that will really push on and give getting into those playoff places a really good go? It is something that looked very unlikely just a few games ago. That goes to show just how quickly things can change.
