Wrestlemania XXVIII Predictions

Tonight the grandest stage of them all hits the box office for its 28th edition. I’m hoping that the running order isn’t quite as random as it has been in recent years, I don’t much care for them starting PPVs with major championship matches, and should end with the WWE Championship match. In my opinion, this year’s card looks pretty strong, fingers crossed it can live upto it’s potential.

Here is my take on the outcome of the match card, in a random order:

The Big Attraction – John Cena vs The Rock

Generally, WWE doesn’t like to see it’s current Superstars defeated by Superstars of the past. But will they make an exception for The People’s Champ? I can only see one winner in this match.

Prediction: Cena

Collision of the Heartless - Randy Orton vs Kane

Kane is a late addition to the line-up owing to an injury to Wade Barrett who was originally in a rivalry with Orton. This is being promoted as a match between two heartless characters intent on inflicting pain and suffering. Again I only see one winner in this match

Prediction: Orton

Mania Flop  Big Show vs Cody Rhodes ( C ) (IC Champ) for the Intercontinental Championship

Cody Rhodes has being making a point of the Big Show’s less than inspiring record at Wrestlemania showing his “Most Embarrasing Wrestlemania moments” This one I think is a little harder to predict. Cody wants to hold both the IC and World Championship. Because I see Rhodes challenging for the world title post Wrestlemania, I’m going to give the edge to the World’s Largest Athelte

Prediction: Big Show

Daniel Bryan ( C ) vs Sheamus  for the World Heavyweight Championship

Yes! Yes! Yes! YES!!! World Heavyweight Champion! This could go either way and I can see AJ playing a part in the outcome of the result. Bryan’s recent victories have been fortunate, so you are expected to think Sheamus will easily dispose of the Champ in a fair fight. With the influence of AJ, and perhaps by other means, I’m going to go for the champ to retain.

Prediction: Bryan

Divas Tag Team Match

Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Beth Phoenix ( C ) & Eve

Here we have our celeb guest, last year it was Jersey Shore’s Snooki, this year Maria Menounos. Expect star power to come out on top.

Prediction: Kelly & Maria

Team Teddy vs Team Johnny for sole managerial control of both Raw and Smackdown

Johnny: Captain David Otunga, Mark Henry, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Drew McIntyre

Teddy: Captain Santino Marella, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali and Booker T

On paper, team Johnny would cakewalk this match. In the world of Wrestlemania though, that’s never the case. Laurinitis’ team have all the raw (no pun intended) power, while team Teddy have the high-flyers & showmen. I’d really like this to be well-worked. Let’s hope the most boring man on TV disappears back off TV.

Prediction: Team Teddy

Undertaker vs HHH – Hell In A Cell – End of An Era - Special Referee Shawn Michaels

The last few years I haven’t particularly enjoyed what has been a staple match between the Undertaker and his opponent. I don’t think it’s helped that he’ll have faced just 2 opponents in the last 4 years after tonight. The match against Michaels at WM25 was amazing, and since then, I think the matches haven’t been as exciting. Fingers crossed this year is better. Will the Heart Break Kid call it right down the middle? I’m intrigued by how the match will reach its eventual conclusion of an Undertaker win. Will this be both men’s final Wrestlemania or, even, final match?

Prediction: Undertaker

CM Punk ( C ) v Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship

For me the highlight of the match card, and will definitely be the best “wrestling match”. Two men who claim to be “the best in the world” battle it out. Jericho has been trying to get into the champ’s head by bringing up the family demons running through Punk’s life. Will the straight-edged one use that anger and aggression to his advantage or has Jericho unsettled him? Tough one to call, I’m going to go for Punk to keep the gold

Prediction: Punk
