Wrestlemania 30 Predictions

The big 3-0 is upon us and tomorrow from New Orleans. A landmark edition of the yearly supercard, and yet it seems to have taken a backseat to the recently launched WWE Network. A lot of the matches seem to have been thrown together last minute (and probably have been). When you bear in mind that particular storylines are written months in advance, any sudden injuries or departures can leave a massive hole behind.
The card on paper, really doesn’t look that impressive this year round, but as always there are a couple of intriguing matches scheduled. Here is a look at the matches and their possible outcomes, in no particular order.

Vickie Guerrero’s Divas Invitational for the Divas Championship
A chance (time permitting) for the Divas to show what they are about. AJ (C) will almost certainly lose the title, but who to? Naomi has been a favourite in recent time before an eye socket injury put her out of action for a while. Since returning, she has continued her impressive form. However, I see Tamina taking the victory and setting up a rivalry with her former associate. Winner - Tamina

Kane & New Age Outlaws vs The Shield
The old take on the new, Director of Operations Kane has enlisted the aide of The New Age Outlaws following defiance of The Authority’s go-to guys. This is only going to end one way. Winners – The Shield

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Essentially the second Royal Rumble of the year, in memoration of  Andre. This really could go any way. With the current momentum, I’m tempted to go with Dolph Ziggler who is getting big pops at present. But hey, you’re guess is as good as mine in this one. Winner – Dolph Ziggler.

Daniel Bryan vs Triple H
Bryan has been battling the odds for months now. Chants of ‘yes’ accompany him wherever he goes. Those ‘intriguing’ matches I mentioned – this is one of them. When it was first hinted at that HHH may be getting in the ring, I thought ‘I’m not sure I want to see HHH wrestle at the moment’. But with the card as it is, it needs Trips in it. I expect Stephanie (unless banned from ringside) to be involved, but Bryan to still come out on top. Winner – Daniel Bryan

Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
Undertaker once again puts the streak on the line. Currently 21-0 the Demon of Death Valley pits himself against Lesnar. The streak for me, should never, NEVER end, and I don’t think it ever will. Thankfully, with Brock involved, it should be an entertaining contest. Slow and methodical, but still entertaining. Winner – The Undertaker

John Cena vs Bray Wyatt
This one is an odd one. Bray and the Wyatt family in general have been interesting. The Husky Harris chants have gone and Bray is being fully acknowledged as his own entity. Rightly so, of course. I can see Bray taking the win here, and the rivalry continuing, possibly through interference. Winner – Bray Wyatt.

Orton (WWEWHC) vs Batista vs Daniel Bryan or HHH
Wouldn’t it really be the full circle story if, after beating HHH, Bryan completes the task of then pinning or submitting one of the other participants. Will we see some sort of screwjob only then for the Wrestlemania 30 host Hulk Hogan to order a restart? In any case, I think it’s time for the payoff. Winner – Daniel Bryan

Pre-show Tag Team Fatal 4-way

The Usos (C) vs RybAxel vs The Real Americans vs Los Matadores
This reeks of last minute. The Usos have barely had the title five minutes. Axel & Ryback have no momentum, and aren’t working as a tag team. Los Matadores have been on the fringe a while. The Real Americans have been on-off teasing a breakup for a while, meaning a retention is the only likely outcome. Winners – The Usos

A few little footnotes I’d like to add – there’s no place for matches either for the Intercontinental or US titles. I would have liked Ambrose to drop the US title and Big E to start a rivalry with the new holder, culminating in unification match here at Wrestlemania 30. Having two second-tier titles servers no purpose, and with Ambrose’s defences of the title scarce, it’s the right time.

Also, the stylising of the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’. Wrestlemania XXX. Really? That’s going to get it filtered out of some search results, when the title sounds like a special Divas porn edition. Someone let that slip by creative, perhaps.
