Wrestlemania 31 Predictions

It’s that time of the year again where the worlds of pop culture and pro wrestling join forces to create the biggest event the genre has to offer. It’s time for Wrestlemania.

Last year, the 30th anniversary presented us with an unforgettable scene; the end of the Undertaker’s undefeated streak. Many questioned if that would be the last we would see of the Deadman, however he indeed returns to take on the bizarre Bray Wyatt.

Without any further fanfare, let’s get down to those predictions.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The kickoff/pre-show

Tag Team  Fatal 4-Way

Tyson Kidd & Cesaro © vs The New Day (Kingston/Big E /w Xavier Woods) vs Los Matadores vs The Usos.

Recently, Kidd and Cesaro took the titles from the Usos, and I’m going to go for the Usos to recapture the titles. – Winners: THE USOS

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Many of the more senior performers compete in this match such as Kane, Mark Henry, The Big Show, Goldust plus some of the newer faces. With his current popularity within the WWE Universe, I’m going for Damien Mizdow to win and also end his association with The Miz. Winner: Damien Mizdow

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE Championship - Brock Lesnar © vs Roman Reigns

In an unusual situation, Lesnar’s contract was due to expire around Wrestlemania time, which would have meant only one possible outcome. Lesnar has since announced however that he has agreed a deal to stay with WWE, and also ruling out a return to UFC. This should prevent a similar reception to 2003 where both Lesnar and Goldberg were both booed throughout their match as everyone knew they would both be departing. I see the “Reigns can’t beat Brock” storyline continuing, so I’m going for the Beast to retain. Winner: Brock Lesnar

Sting vs Triple H

Sting at Wrestlemania. Go on, say it to yourself again. A day many thought they would never see. The Authority are still pulling their weight and Sting is out to put a stop to it. This is Sting’s first match in WWE, and I’m putting it down as a win. Winner: Sting

US Championship: Rusev © vs John Cena

USA vs Russia, patriotism is always one way to get the crowd up for a match, a match that was accepted on Rusev’s behalf by Lana. The Ravishing Russian appears to have been dropped by her client since that event. Upto that point, Cena had been told he’d only be at Wrestlemania if Rusev agreed to a match between the two. After Cena put Rusev in the STF, Lana was forced to accept that match for Cena to release the hold. Rusev, upto present, has not been pinned or submitted, but that will end tonight. Winner: Cena

Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match – Bad News Barrett © vs Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Stardust, Luke Harper, R-Truth

Unusually, we find seven participants instead of the usual six in this type of match. Barrett has found many of the participants in this match running of with his title. Following the end of Smackdown, he still had hold of the gold, but can he keep hold during what could be the show-stealer? As for the eventual winner, I’d say your guess is as good as mine, but I’m going to go for Dean Ambrose to capture the title. Winner: Dean Ambrose

Divas Tag Team Match – Paige & AJ Lee vs The Bellas

They’ve dropped the ‘frenemies’ nonsense and join forces with the common goal of stopping the Bellas. The Bellas attempted to cause friction by offering only one of the two a Championship match, which Paige lost after a distraction. Winners: Paige & AJ

Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins /w Joey Mercury & Jamie Noble

The recently returned Orton is back for revenge on the man who put him out of action with the curb stomp. Rollins has had the backing of the authority for some considerable time now, and while Mercury & Noble may well accompany Rollins to the ring, I also wouldn’t rule out interference from Kane & Big Show. I do expect Orton to emerge victorious, however. Winner: Randy Orton

Bray Wyatt vs Undertaker

Wyatt has goaded The Undertaker into returning after last year’s silence inducing defeat at the event’s 30th anniversary. Wyatt has amassed an army of followers and has an eerie demeanour not too dissimilar to the Deadman.  Winner: Wyatt

So there we have it. Enjoy the show!
