The Lambert Era Begins

Rovers appointed Paul Lambert as their new manager, and he today goes into his first match in charge against local rivals Preston North End at Deepdale.

The appointment, met with positive response on social media, seems to have given the fans a lift, and belief that Rovers actually good go on to ‘make a right good go of it’. Buoyed further by the news Derek Shaw hints we may not necessarily have to sell another player to exit the transfer embargo.

Lambert brings with him former Rovers staff Rob Kelly and Alan Irvine, which should help him settle into his new position seamlessly. The players will know that they will need to impress the new manager to cement a place in the side.

In all this we should look back on Gary Bowyer’s time as one where all the chaos of previous reigns was finally weeded out, and getting the club back to normality by bringing in, under much tighter constraints, players with a real desire to wear the shirt.

As Rovers go into the match, they sit 16th in the Championship table  on 17pts. Birmingham in 6th have 28pts, and third from bottom Charlton, have 14pts. I expect from this point on, the only way players, staff and fans alike will be looking is up.
